Lisa Tironi is the elementary music specialist at Sunset Ridge Elementary School in the Blue Valley (KS) School District where she teaches music to more than 500 students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Ms. Tironi earned the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Michigan State University, and the Masters in Music Education at the University of Tulsa.
Prior to her work in the elementary setting, Tironi was a high school choral music educator in Oklahoma and Missouri. She earned level 1 and 2 certification in Orff Schulwerk at Southern Methodist University, World Music Drumming certification (2 levels), and studied Conversational Solfege and First Steps in Music with Dr. John Fierabend at Silver Lake College. She has taught Elementary Music Methods for undergraduates at the University of Tulsa and a masters level course in Elementary Music Education at the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
Tironi’s choirs and Orff percussion ensembles have performed on several occasions with the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory Choral Ensembles and with the KU Landon Center for Aging’s “Forever Young” older adult choir. She was recognized in 2010 as a Kansas City Metro Area “Innovative Educator” by 435 South magazine. She is a frequent presenter and clinician for music teachers and was selected as Teacher of the Year at Sunset Ridge Elementary in 2011. Currently, Tironi serves on the board as Past President of the Heart of America chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association.
